#1 Post by link_dc »

Well i oiled the lock thing in the break barrel, you know the thing that locks up the barrel in the straight position, and well i dont know if i should have used oil, because you can here it bubble when you close the barrel slowly. How do i make it not bubble? by the by its a crosman quest 500, and i used gun oil, like for those guns that go BOOM! really loud

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

You have not done any harm. If the bubbling bothers you, take it apart and wipe the excess oil off. Actually think this would be a good place for some moly grease. All I use to date is light oil. Gotta love the Quest eh :) :) !!!!
I sure like mine.

sounds like you need to take the barrel off of the gun. there might be a pin or a screw or something like that. do that and remove any grease you might find and put a different kind of grease in its place. maybe a light oil. silicone oil might do nicely.

No sweat linc,
Stock comes off with three screws
Barrel is held by the pivot screw. Use a 'Good' quality blade that fits properly for this screw for sure!
Slip out the barrel and inside is the latch with spring tension. This is captured by the pivot bushing. Press on latch, slip out bush, release latch and youhave it in your hand.
Really tho' the bubbling is no trouble.
Walter...
Any more troubles just ask.

when the latch slowly compresses you can hear it bubble, like the oil is bubbling out.

i guess its safe to say maybe you applied to much lube?
try soaking some of it up with a qbtip. or use a thicker lube or grease.

MOLY grease.

also known as Dow corning 77, Beeman's M2M, macarri's springer tar, honda moly grease (canadian tire might have this) and a few other names for it.
