Found why my bengamin Cayden 22 is shooting 100-130 fps slow

#1 Post by FlyFisherMan101 »

Well look what i found out about my air tube and valve on my new bengamin cayden 22 cal.Now it makes sense why my gun was shooting over 100 fps slower than everyone elses.Does the valve look like it is in alignment with the block..The transfer port on the valve was counter clockwise lose 1/4 of a turn this made the transfer port in the valve and breech body out 1/8' or almost compleatly covering the valve transfer port and there was another nicked oring on the valve ? Come on crossman get your act together. And they said if i went inside my gun it would void my warranty.Screw the bs waranty Now i get 100-130 fps more speed with all pellets i even had to back out my new hammer spring out flush with the reciever yes this time the correct spring. Now i can stay just under 1000 fps with jsb 15.89 hades and set on one notch bellow full power on the power adjuster. The craftsman series what a joke just glad its as accurate as it is..Thanks crossman for nothing.

Well that just makes you cross, man!
Seriously, that is really poor QC on this platform, and pretty scary stuff. You should post this as many places as you can. Particulary with the high pressure stuff, there has to be better QC.
Is that guage working, it appears to be a bit in the over pressure "red zone"?

No the guage reads 300 psi higher than my hill mk5 pump and the same on my 2" diameter wika registared guage thats guaranteed to be within .01% accuracy so the guage is way out i need to fill the gun to 3300 psi to have actual 3000 psi and they said if i put the guage in myself my warranty would be void lol what a joke. But i must say she is a tack driver. Now to test shot count again and accuracy at 60 yards

Sounds like good power now, FlyFisherman & good speed with those Hades.
My first time out with the Condor this spring, showed 500+fps low of what I thought it would be. Indoors it was loud, but at the outside range, mouse-fart
and just around 675fps. I expected, with that hammer wheel setting of 8 to be getting almost 1,150fps.
After re-adjusting the top-hat fit at home, my average at a low setting of 4 on the hammer and shooting 1/2" at 55 meters, I'm averaging 1,076fps with 25.39gr. JSB's.
At the original wheel setting of 8 (out of 13), it was running 1,138fps & cracking pretty good, so I cranked it down and re-tested.

Wowsers Daryl thats some amazing power and velocity with those heavy pellets i guess i might as well leave the power adjuster full open and hammer spring flush as then the cayden will push the jsb 18.13 grainers about 980 fps thats plenty of power for gofers at 60 yards right and then the jsb 15.89 grain will be about 1025 fps and crosman 14.3 grain will run about 1050 fps not bad for a cayden

Reading posts like this makes me not want to purchase a chronograph?

Hopefully this is the last of the issues and you finally get to enjoy. :drinkers:

Lemons are out there--so I always buy used guns that owner already used fairly as well as order new ones from places that can help test--Wes does a good job and he tells you the brief accuracy and the FPS and what pellets he use for the testing--it cost a little more but compare to have hassle of getting a lemon it is worth. Also I ordered some from PyramydAir and always ask them to do a 10-shot test to avoid that.
Rifles are also from production lines, same as cars and it will be someone just not lucky to have one with poor quality.
A Bunch of
495fps Springers/CO2/PCP
PAL Rated plinkers and target rifles
Finally get my PAL after 1 year waiting

I was shooting gophers out to 55yards with my HW97 Blackline in .177. It was running 890fps with 8gr. Predators.

The Condor did 906fps with the 51gr. bullet I cast for it at a setting on the wheel of 4 Horizontal and 10 on the wheel numbering, which is actually a low setting.
A max. setting would be 13 on the Horizontal and 16 on the wheel.
I was not impressed with the accuracy at 55yards - 1.25", so will have to re-test those at higher settings. That's 93fpe BTW.

55 yards @1.25" is not bad!

I found it unacceptable, though and I am sure it will do better. In looking at the group, it looks a lot bigger than it measures, that's for sure.
I would expect 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" at 100 meters from that rifle, with those bullets.
The 100 meter RF silhouette sheep is not very big, maybe 5" long & 2 1/2" high, yet with the Hades pellets(1,050fps MV), the group on the ram was about 2".
I was smacking small rocks with it, on the bank behind the target line. The bank was 118yards. That was fun with the Immersive 10x40. Hits were easy to see.
Nice glass.
