Using Plumber's grease (silicone based) on PCP o-rings

#1 Post by CZ-Sniper »

Should PCP o-rings have a tiny amount of silicone -based plumber's greased applied to them every few hundred shots or so?

If you are asking whether you should disassemble to grease orings as part of maintenance...no. Each time you reassemble...yes.

I use silicone brake grease or dielectric grease...silicone plumbers grease will be fine.

Dow 55 has a component to it that swells orings...otherwise nice stuff if a bit thin IMO.

This is what I use after changing O rings. Seems to work well.
It is a Dielectric PTFE grease. Syncolon by name.
I also use it on the fill probe O rings that some guns have.

Thank you all very much. So on a new PCP, it is unnecessary to lubricate the o-rings, and the only time we apply grease is when we swap them for new ones down the line. Good to know, thank you!
