QB 78 - Good for urban pest control? Is it too loud?

#1 Post by steve71 »

Hey all, my first post here :D

I'm thinking about buying a QB-78 in .22 cal for pest control. Since I live in a built up area, I need something doesn't attract attention. How loud is the QB-78 compared to say a Springer like the Gamo Shadow 1000?

How much of a difference does a muzzle break make? How much do they cost and are they ease to locate.

Thanks guys!!

cost is about $150 (contact sniper on the forum, he sells them)
noise is loud, muzzle break would make a big difference I think.

Wait for people with more experience to post about sound hehe

Hi Steve71,

Welcome aboard! :D

Most CO2 guns are a bit loud. The pistols have a sharp bark and the rifles are still louder than springers.
The PAL rated springers are often a good choice when noise is a consideration. If your budget is under $250Cdn you can have a look at Slavia CZ-631, Slavia CZ-630, Xisico XS-B7, Xisico XS-B3, Xisico XS-B4, Crosman Quest 500, Diana 20, Diana 24. Also watch the used market. Sometimes there are good deals at the for sale section of this site.

HTH,
Todd

Thanks for the reply's guys. I have the Gamo Shadow 1000 at the moment, but I didn't know about the whole springer recoil thing when I bought it. It is accurate enough if I keep good form, but I don't have that luxury when I'm trying to drop a pigeon as it's an awkward shot.
