Last night I made an Aluminum pump rod for my 2289. It was a fairly easy project. I started out with a piece of Aluminum rod 5/8 diameter long enough to make 2 pump rods (in case of mistakes). with the old plastic pump rod a lot of heat was generated, and the gun could dump 50 pumps. Now it gets very difficult to exceed 25 pumps and If I do go to 30 the hammer spring will not dump all the air. I assume that this means that the new pump rod has increased the efficiency of pumping. If any one is interested in directions on how to make one check the following link::arrow:'
